Shepherd's Closet Food Pantry

Every Tuesday and Thursday we are open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Our pantry is operated completely by volunteers twice a week. 

Each week our food pantry not only serves walk ins, but we also deliver to a 15-mile radius of Peru. Every month, we go through approximately 12,000 pounds of food. We are serving on average 600 individuals every month. This is an amazing opportunity to meet individual's physical needs, along with giving us a unique opportunity to provide for their spiritual needs.  With the recent federal food commodities cuts Illinois has lost 217,128 pounds of food available to go to food pantries. That is a reduction of 264,070 meals along with the SNAP benefit cuts that equals $230 BILLION Dollars, it will be reducing 2 million peoples SNAP benefits by $ 58.00 a month.  This means there will be even more people struggling to get the food they need to feed their families. There are many ways to help, however, if you can help financially, your money goes further when you donate here. We have the opportunity to purchase food from our local food bank for a very discounted rate. It is easy, and secure to give into the needs of the Illinois Valley.
